Jackson County Community Substance Abuse Taskforce

Community Health Link has partnered with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Smoky Mountain Center to develop the Jackson County Community Substance Abuse Taskforce.   The group meets monthly on the 2nd Friday at 10:00 AM at the Family Resource Center in Webster.

Substance abuse is a growing problem in Jackson County as it is across the nation.   One of the most pressing problems is the use of methamphetines.   Meth is being brought into Jackson County and is used by a growing number of residents of all ages and socioeconomic status.   The Substance abuse taskforce has split into three groups to address prevention issues, treatment, and community awareness.

Currently a   one page laminated directory is being developed that will be used as a resource for law enforcement officers when a need arises. If you would like to be part of this group please call Lorna Barnett at 828-586-8994 Ext. 224.
